Life Drawing – Creative Tone

Using tone decisively and creatively can give so much dimension and depth to your work. It is one of the key ingredients for creating the illusion of 3D, and can be an exciting part of your approach to drawing.

For many of us though, we fall back into half-hearted approaches to mapping out tone, using smudges or crosshatching, where we’re not really sure about what we’re trying to achieve.

In this session I will encourage you to explore a range of approaches to creating tone, and to understand some of the conventions, and how to flip them. For beginners and intermediate life drawers, it will grow your palette of observation skills while stretching your thinking about tone.

My life drawing classes are always warm, engaging and rewarding. I provide an encouraging environment, so even if you are really sure you can’t draw you will be pleasantly surprised.
