A special event, this Park Life Drawing session features the renowned musician Francis Gilfedder.

Francis is bringing an assortment of wind and percussion instruments from around the world that will be interesting to draw and listen to as he poses for us in the cool shade under a leafy tree.

It will be a relaxed morning in an Everton Hills park, with details provided on booking your spot.

From the Hawaiian pocket sax, Xaphoon, to the very large Slovakian flute, Fujara, and many other instruments in between, it will be sounds from across the world. Francis is also a visual artist, so he will bring a creative approach to his modeling.

Important to consider:

• You will need to be confident about walking over uneven ground with tree roots.
• This session is part of the Drawing a Sense of Place film project. We will have a film crew working with us, capturing some general footage of us as we draw, and some images of our artwork. They are lovely and unobtrusive, with very creative ideas, and there will be contracts and waivers to sign to clarify the limits of the project.

When

Saturday 17 October (please note this event is weather dependent and will be rescheduled in case of rain or high wind)

Where?

I will confirm the location with you when you register. (It’s not a mystery but a covid-safety  and numbers management plan!)

Cost

$20 (I’ll provide payment details after making contact with you to discuss the location and filming.)

What should I bring?

It is important for each of us to be self-sufficient. Please bring your own:

• seat/cushion/blanket
• sun protection – a broad brimmed hat and sunscreen
• insect repellent – the midges and mosquitoes like artists who sit still
• sketching gear and materials – be aware you will be resting your drawing pad on your knees so A3 is probably the maximum size for comfort
• fold back clip to stop the breeze flipping your paper
• hand sanitiser

There are toilets on site and cafes close by but definitely bring your own sanitiser as there is none on site.
