Life Drawing is so good for the brain – working out the left-right hemisphere connections and activating new neural pathways. It has been proven by the Mayo Clinic to be one of the best ways to maintain cognitive health as we age. Let’s do it!
Please note that C-19 has had an impact on the way these sessions are run. At the moment the easels aren’t available and individual tuition isn’t on offer. I run the group in a very safe way, prioritising the health of vulnerable members.
Life drawing at Bunya House in Brisbane’s north-west at Arana Hills is relaxed, fun, social and addictive! Life drawing is wonderful for limbering up the brain and shaking out the cobwebs. It is challenging at first, but as you build your skills you will feel great satisfaction in seeing your work develop. I especially like working with people who learned somewhere along the line that they ‘can’t draw’ to help them build their drawing muscle. Tuition and regular practice can turn around the ‘I can’t’ message very quickly.
All levels of skill are welcome: you can choose to come for a tutored or untutored session on Thursday evenings. It’s a welcoming environment where you can build your skills at your own pace, enjoy catching up with other creatives, and give back time to yourself after the mid-week work hump. The two hours cover warm up poses, and a longer pose in the second hour. This means you get the best of both worlds: being able to hone in and develop your work, while also keeping your mark-making alive and expressive.
Saturday Sessions: I run monthly costumed life drawing sessions on Saturday afternoons, and in the future, I’m hoping to restart the tutored sessions once a month on a Saturday afternoon. Register to find out about the upcoming session, or check here
