Drawing Faces for 8-12 year olds

This session follows on from the recent ‘Drawing Faces’ workshop for adults. This time it has been adapted for young people aged 8-12 years. I love children’s art and am keen to work with them… Not to override their beautiful approach, but to work with it, and encourage them to look, see and draw with greater confidence. Due to the age range, there will be different developmental stages present and I will encourage children at the the stage they are at.

This session is set up for young people to be accompanied by an adult (Mum, Dad, Gran, older sibling, cousin, Aunty, Uncle). It is a warm space for doing something creative together where you will both learn more about drawing, and enjoy the afternoon.

Who?

Young people aged between 8 and 12 accompanied by an adult. If you would like to join but fall outside this age range, contact me for a chat. And, if your child is mature enough to attend alone, let me know. I prefer it when the child is accompanied as they will feel more comfortable and you get to do something creative together.

I have a Blue Card for working with children

What?

We’ll begin with images and discussion – looking at examples of faces and how the artist has achieved the effects. We’ll then do some warm up exercises based on self-portraits, and then do a project piece for the rest of the afternoon.
